10.1 Surge test/ u" a9 c Z0 Y9 \
The insulation on CLASS II apparatus between ACCESSIBLE parts or parts connected to them and
/ T( ^& P o; p9 D) k8 I0 OHAZARDOUS LIVE parts, shall withstand surges due to transients, caused for example by' @/ J; L1 Y, z0 }/ j/ s( I
thunderstorms and entering the apparatus through the antenna TERMINAL.
& I6 {& u- r C. F! S; gCompliance is checked by the following test:
3 E. H8 K& z( bThe insulation between1 @6 e0 r; U( a: l, Y: h- ^
– TERMINALS for the connection of antenna and MAINS supply TERMINALS,
4 ?: c5 b7 c2 g" m2 c' Tand between
# h( \/ d9 n- H. K– MAINS supply TERMINALS and any other TERMINAL in case of apparatus providing supply
9 ^4 l) u3 g8 \9 A# X# p& O4 Vvoltages to other apparatus with antenna TERMINALS,) @6 C& S# }3 ]/ F" R
is subjected to 50 discharges at a maximum rate of 12/min, from a 1 nF capacitor charged to" |0 `; R, C7 j
10 kV in a test circuit, as shown in Figure 5a.& `# o6 i5 d1 p0 V' ]! L
NOTE During this test, the apparatus should not be energized.
8 r1 B" w1 \; k2 a5 wAfter the test, the tested insulation shall comply with the requirements of 10.3.
