Question:
We have noticed that certification bodies are treating products incorporating laser
/ @7 w% t' _+ L0 E' Ecomponents in different ways. We at SEMKO have always measured the laser emission from
, U/ n) t0 ]5 [the product when the laser component are installed and are in operation as in normal use of
: i& N# A: @7 ^+ |; g/ [1 A* l% d" nthe product. The laser emission is also measured when abnormal operation of the product is
# O" T/ _: F9 W5 n( k0 s1 |. G  i1 Asimulated.
We are doing the measurements regardless whether the laser component, for instance a laser
* C) C8 b( I( `3 dreader head, is separately "laser tested" or not.
Decision:
The complete equipment shall comply with the IEC 60825 series of standards referenced as
( h6 i3 _8 P- w) A% xnormative references in IEC 60950, 60950-1 or IEC 60065, as applicable.

checked by evaluation of the data of the laser component and the complete equipment and, if
