thin sheet material forming REINFORCED INSULATION, are used. One sample at a time is fixed to
; |# X8 Q" Y# zthe mandrel of the test fixture (Figure 14) as shown in Figure 15.

– from the initial position (Figure 15) to the final position (Figure 16) and back;

If a sample breaks during rotation where it is fixed to the mandrel or the clamping device, this3 t$ V& N- d* H' U$ g) G/ f
does not constitute a failure and the test is repeated on a fresh sample. If a sample breaks at

After this preconditioning, a sheet of metal foil, 0,035 mm ± 0,005 mm thick, at least 200 mm
' O2 r6 Y. ~% d0 n" a) zlong, is placed along the surface of the sample, hanging down on each side of the mandrel- U+ T( ~9 W1 l% W( T( }
(see Figure 16). The surface of the foil in contact with the sample shall be conductive, not( f; }* A1 z8 f, r1 `' W) r
oxidised or otherwise insulated. The foil is positioned so that its edges are not less than 18 mm
0 l0 o" l. F1 k0 C4 wfrom the edges of the sample (see Figure 17). The foil is then tightened by two equal weights,( G" j: S C8 V% G( A
one at each end, using appropriate clamping devices.7 T* B! E+ s' P7 \
While the mandrel is in its final position, and within the 60 s following the final positioning, a6 @, o1 K2 ~( a3 S: _& |" `
dielectric strength test is applied between the mandrel and the metal foil in accordance with
' }. P" i- e, ]6 E6 S10.3.2, using a test voltage of 1,5 times the value specified in Table 5 for REINFORCED8 x1 s* X, O b/ | P% J
INSULATION, but not less than 5 kV.1 a/ y/ S+ q2 s% t3 @* B
The entire test procedure is repeated on the other two samples., U v8 z8 J9 Y/ ~: R+ V6 L2 F
No flashover or breakdown shall occur during the test; corona effects and similar phenomena being disregarded.
