6.1 PHYSICAL EXAM AND GENERAL CHECKING 5 }, d, ~6 s1 U' u/ A
For each lot the compasses will be submitted to general and physical checking, according to the UNI ISO 2859 for the simple sampling plan- trial level II-AQL 1,5, verifying in the details the completeness of the handwork, the correspondence with the technical characteristics as per par. 4 and the nonexistence of flaws and any possible manufacturing degradation.7 E( B/ A! a5 w1 P6 d" ?8 |/ q
The faulty compasses will be adequately marked by the contractor body and will have to be replaced by as many suitable compasses.. l' U9 F4 a- D7 D% s; j
6.2 WATERPROOF TEST
+ v- K' R' ^, COne compass from the sampling in point 6.1 must be immersed in 300 ml distilled and deionized water for 24 h at a temperature 23°±5° C. the compass after 24 h must be removed from the water and examined. If the water has entered the quadrant , then the test must be retained not passed. " S$ |* J7 {! x: C4 `

A compass taken from the sampling (6.1) must be dropped twice, in open form , from 90 cm high on a solid surface covered by dry sand. The sand can be covered by a plastic sheet once in the front and once on the side.
7 r6 l& k- h- h6 wIf after the aforesaid tests the compass shows malfunctioning or a visible damage, the test must be retained not passed. 4 [. E3 O! b* V- U& W% h0 k4 a
6.4 TEMPERATURE RESISTANCE 5 s) F/ S* d$ Y, E/ R' Y% u5 l5 |
A compass from the sampling must be submitted to a complete cycle of high and low temperatures. It must be subjected, in close form, to a -44° ± 2° C for a period of 30 minutes, far from solar radiation. After 30 min. the compass must be opened and examined. Afterwards it must be shut again and , after the stabilization a room temperature, it must be submitted for 30 min. at 68° ± 3° C. after 30 minutes it must be opened and examined. In either cases if the compass shows damages or the quadrant does not correctly indicate the North or cannot rotate freely and smoothly , the test is to be retained not passed.7 W6 s0 w2 Q, F, p: K) f
6.5 ACCURACY MEASURE3 p" x0 H2 C& @3 l# _: B# V4 m
A compass from the sampling must be placed in a set point. With the aid of the pointing mechanism must be pointed on three targets , which azimuth are known and distant 120° one another.& M8 w, P" k4 C( R# y, |2 g
Without making any corrective action the operator must read the azimuth of the three targets. The compass error is obtained from the difference between the known azimuth and those learned by the aid of the compass itself. If the error is superior to 40 thousandths or if it does not function correctly, the test must be retained not passed.% L' W9 X+ `* A
6.6 ROTATION TEST WITH THE TILT COMPASS
% K+ g+ c: F2 ^+ K* LA compass from the sampling must be inclined 8 ± 0.1 degrees in respect to an horizontal surface and rotated twice of 360°, once clockwise and once anticlockwise in about 10 seconds for each rotation on a perpendicular surface of the pivot axis. If during the rotation the magnetic quadrant is not free to rotate to maintain the pointing to the North, the test must be retained not passed.* @ k) d9 L! M
