Three test samples, each individual sample consisting of three or more layers of non-separable) U3 ?0 i" }% z" M: X. Y" ]1 G" u& n
thin sheet material forming REINFORCED INSULATION, are used. One sample at a time is fixed to
7 k W6 t* J; S6 d- H# m/ ?- f* Y" Tthe mandrel of the test fixture (Figure 14) as shown in Figure 15.1 d# ?; E8 O2 r: c! @

using an appropriate clamping device. The mandrel is rotated by hand without jerks% r+ T4 b$ i+ K# f2 `& |' A. i

After this preconditioning, a sheet of metal foil, 0,035 mm ± 0,005 mm thick, at least 200 mm
% n) H# {8 Q$ v+ {long, is placed along the surface of the sample, hanging down on each side of the mandrel
/ Y! B) \ A$ h* v$ g0 V(see Figure 16). The surface of the foil in contact with the sample shall be conductive, not8 M7 F! _& q- x; d
oxidised or otherwise insulated. The foil is positioned so that its edges are not less than 18 mm
2 m2 \5 g) B# p! dfrom the edges of the sample (see Figure 17). The foil is then tightened by two equal weights,+ e. Y( ^% G( b J9 {/ u& o9 v
one at each end, using appropriate clamping devices.' c6 P$ p7 i- p
While the mandrel is in its final position, and within the 60 s following the final positioning, a5 b4 e7 M6 ~% ~$ L L, G
dielectric strength test is applied between the mandrel and the metal foil in accordance with9 g+ u/ W5 B- O0 Z
10.3.2, using a test voltage of 1,5 times the value specified in Table 5 for REINFORCED9 q6 x V: A u. H! H
INSULATION, but not less than 5 kV.: r" y, N+ Y t) [. o5 |: k
The entire test procedure is repeated on the other two samples., @2 P# H. K, x1 D8 H' ]
No flashover or breakdown shall occur during the test; corona effects and similar phenomena being disregarded.
