Some appliances have the following circuit:
In Clause 19.11.2, it is stated that, if an electronic circuit operates to ensure compliance
  [$ F* a8 X5 ~( _" g% ewith clause 19, the relevant tests of clause 19 should be repeated with
a single fault simulated as in a) through f) or g) of cl.19.11.2
In our opinion, an additional mechanical thermal cut-out is required.
Convenor’s note:
In clause 19.5, the electronic thermostat will operate to limit the temperature in one
1 {4 L* }( w# Q5 f6 _2 g$ U7 Qconfiguration. This enquiry is to seek confirmation whether an additional cut out is
' ?; _3 |3 i- e+ F( `required to comply with 19.5 if a single fault prevents the operation of the thermostat.
Decision:
+ ~7 C* S5 o1 [& FAn additional thermal cut-out is required or (for edition 4.1, 4.2 and edition 5) the
- o4 i) ^) B* i+ }% f3 Z1 S7 aelectronic thermostat is considered to be a PEC and has to be evaluated according to
the relevant tests.
