Problem:
% q: c+ N7 w% Y& oIEC 60950:99 refers in several subclauses and in Annex P to IEC 60320 series as relevant IEC
( @/ Y: e& V* u3 }* ~( gcomponent standard for appliance inlets.
0 E; k! u1 r2 \0 L" J9 K# vHowever, there aren't any specific temperature limits for appliance inlets specified in table 4A parts 14 K; G5 E% [6 W
and 2., z' g- M: f9 O7 l# t/ X! N
This results in a non-uniform interpretation whether:8 u) e8 h, a) e+ U( E8 t9 K
(a) the temperature limit of external surfaces of equipment which can be touched (95 °C% @( @# h$ V) }( R" z
for the plastic housing of the appliance inlet)/ G6 S/ I: q( k3 ?0 b3 [# {* z! P
OR
6 R0 f7 L6 H7 C4 L(b) the temperature limit of IEC 60320-1 (70 °C for the pins of the appliance inlet for cold
/ _  q, w3 ^) F. k. U4 dconditions)
3 ?$ l/ W9 C4 e( Y( d. U+ A' tshall be chosen for the assessment of the maximum temperature of the appliance inlet.

(i) Is (only) the maximum temperature of the appliance inlet housing to be measured?

the maximum temperature of the pins of an appliance inlet (test location as required

# T3 g# C! J# U7 {" J# ~( p: KFor testing of a product incorporating IEC 60320-1 type appliance inlets, the temperature limits and* e1 ]7 G. f7 H
locations for temperature measurements as described in IEC 60320-1 shall apply:& ?  }7 x0 X7 ]8 {3 s% L7 V
• 70 °C maximum pin temperature for appliance inlet for cold conditions9 m) Q6 D- I1 s" y% u' ]) J& |5 o
• Test location: Base of the pin (part of the pin where it protrudes from the engagement face)7 Y/ |% ~9 ^  L; R' A1 V" v
The temperature rise shall be determined at the maximum room ambient temperature as declared by$ \2 W1 N6 {2 F, E9 k, Q
the AC Adaptor's manufacturer.
