Question:
  p8 R+ ]  a4 p2 l# BWithin an IECEE CB Report for an end product that contains a component disk drive(s)
(e.g., CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD, Hard, Floppy, Tape), if the disk drive(s) has its own
certification to IEC 60950 (-1), is it acceptable to identify such a critical component by
# B* J- @& \# w  ]: h& [" dtechnical data, standard, and mark(s) of conformity, as in the example below, without
specifying manufacturer’s name and type number for each component?
Decision:
For component disk drives covered by a CB Test Report and Certificate, there are two
options for component descriptions, depending on the type of disk drive:
9 J2 W9 w8 Y4 l, E1. Non-laser based drives – The parts list should state "Mfr: Company A or equivalent," and
" r7 n) R+ W' z$ F' r"Model: Model B or equivalent," so there is traceability for the construction of the
! b3 y; N+ i" j# Usample tested. The description should also include the technical data (input voltage
0 z; [# t: T- H, ^rating, load current rating, flammability rating of the bezel), standard, and mark of
$ U7 @5 X" K, s* e0 j7 N+ Zcertifying body/organization.
+ S2 k  C% }% h2. Laser based drive - The parts list should state: "Mfr: Company A or equivalent", and
"Model: Model B or equivalent," so that there is traceability (to IEC60950-1 and
, a3 F0 B! a7 h/ ^6 m; p& `applicable laser requirement(s)) for the construction of the sample tested. The description
